Questions
Can the WEN DF1100T run a house through a 30 amp inlet?
Only 120 V circuits. Its L5-30R outlet is 120 V, 30 A (3,600 W max), so it cannot run 240 V loads such as a well pump. It can feed a 120 V-only inlet/transfer switch rated for L5-30, within 3,600 W running.
What are the WEN DF1100T's starting watts?
11,000 W starting and 8,300 W running on gasoline.
Where do the numbers come from?
WEN product page and manual: gasoline 11000 surge / 8300 running; propane 9500 / 7500; 4 GFCI 5-20R, L5-30R, 14-50R, 12V DC; 6.6 gal; 8.5 hr gas at 50%, 3 hr propane (20 lb). No L14-30R: a 30A 240V inlet needs a 14-50P to L14-30R adapter cord, which Willrun does not assume.
Safety first
- Run a generator outdoors only, at least 20 feet from the house, with the exhaust pointed away from doors, windows and vents. Never in a garage, basement, shed or crawlspace, even with the door open.
- Carbon monoxide is odorless and can kill in minutes. Keep battery CO alarms working inside the home.
- Never backfeed a house by plugging a generator into a wall outlet or dryer receptacle. It can energize utility lines and kill a lineworker or a neighbor.
- Connecting to home wiring requires a transfer switch or a listed breaker interlock with a power inlet box, installed by a licensed electrician and permitted where your jurisdiction requires it.
