Questions
Can the Westinghouse iGen4500DFc run a house through a 30 amp inlet?
Not as wired from the factory. A TT-30R is an RV outlet (120 V, 30 A). Home inlets use L14-30 (120/240 V) or L5-30; adapting a TT-30R to a house is not something Willrun recommends without an electrician confirming the inlet and transfer switch.
What are the Westinghouse iGen4500DFc's starting watts?
4,500 W starting and 3,700 W running on gasoline.
Where do the numbers come from?
Westinghouse spec sheet and manual: gas 4500 peak / 3700 running; propane 4050 / 3330; 5-20R duplex, TT-30R, 2 USB; 3.4 gal; 18 hr gas / 22 hr propane at 25%; 52 dBA; 105.8 lb dry; CO sensor.
Safety first
- Run a generator outdoors only, at least 20 feet from the house, with the exhaust pointed away from doors, windows and vents. Never in a garage, basement, shed or crawlspace, even with the door open.
- Carbon monoxide is odorless and can kill in minutes. Keep battery CO alarms working inside the home.
- Never backfeed a house by plugging a generator into a wall outlet or dryer receptacle. It can energize utility lines and kill a lineworker or a neighbor.
- Connecting to home wiring requires a transfer switch or a listed breaker interlock with a power inlet box, installed by a licensed electrician and permitted where your jurisdiction requires it.
