Questions
Can the WEN 56380i run a house through a 30 amp inlet?
Not as wired from the factory. A TT-30R is an RV outlet (120 V, 30 A). Home inlets use L14-30 (120/240 V) or L5-30; adapting a TT-30R to a house is not something Willrun recommends without an electrician confirming the inlet and transfer switch.
What are the WEN 56380i's starting watts?
3,800 W starting and 3,400 W running on gasoline.
Where do the numbers come from?
WEN product page and manual: 3400 running / 3800 surge; TT-30R and two 5-20R; 2.2 gal; 8.5 hr at 50%; 99.2 lb.
Safety first
- Run a generator outdoors only, at least 20 feet from the house, with the exhaust pointed away from doors, windows and vents. Never in a garage, basement, shed or crawlspace, even with the door open.
- Carbon monoxide is odorless and can kill in minutes. Keep battery CO alarms working inside the home.
- Never backfeed a house by plugging a generator into a wall outlet or dryer receptacle. It can energize utility lines and kill a lineworker or a neighbor.
- Connecting to home wiring requires a transfer switch or a listed breaker interlock with a power inlet box, installed by a licensed electrician and permitted where your jurisdiction requires it.
