Questions
Can the DuroMax XP12000EH run Panasonic NN-SU656WAWH microwave, electrical input?
Runs. Running draw 1,500 W fits within 9,500 running watts and this is not a motor-start load.
What watts were compared?
Generator: 9,500 running W and 12,000 starting W on gasoline. Appliance: 1,500 W running, startup not published.
How long will it run?
Fuel runtime depends on total load. Published runtime: 19 hr at 25% / 8 hr at 50% on gasoline; 14 hr / 7 hr on a 40-lb propane tank.
Where did the numbers come from?
DuroMax product page and spec sheet: gasoline 12000 / 9500; propane 11400 / 9025; 120/240V 30A twist-lock and 50A; 19/8 hr gas and 14/7 hr propane (40-lb) at 25%/50%. Panasonic lists power supply 120 V / 60 Hz, microwave output 1,100 W, and microwave power consumption 1,500 W. The station has to supply the 1,500 W input, not the 1,100 W cooking output. A separate startup surge is not published. X-Boost and Power Lifting are not applied, because those modes are described for simple heating loads and a microwave is an electronic supply.
Safety first
- Run a generator outdoors only, at least 20 feet from the house, with the exhaust pointed away from doors, windows and vents. Never in a garage, basement, shed or crawlspace, even with the door open.
- Carbon monoxide is odorless and can kill in minutes. Keep battery CO alarms working inside the home.
- Never backfeed a house by plugging a generator into a wall outlet or dryer receptacle. It can energize utility lines and kill a lineworker or a neighbor.
- Connecting to home wiring requires a transfer switch or a listed breaker interlock with a power inlet box, installed by a licensed electrician and permitted where your jurisdiction requires it.
