Questions
Can the Champion 7500W Dual Fuel (100891) run Panasonic NN-SU656WAWH microwave, electrical input?
Runs. Running draw 1,500 W fits within 7,500 running watts and this is not a motor-start load.
What watts were compared?
Generator: 7,500 running W and 9,375 starting W on gasoline. Appliance: 1,500 W running, startup not published.
How long will it run?
Fuel runtime depends on total load. Published runtime: 10 hr at 1/2 load on gasoline, 5.5 hr at 1/2 load on a 20-lb propane tank.
Where did the numbers come from?
Champion operator's manual: gasoline 9375 starting / 7500 running; propane 8400 / 6750; L14-30R and L5-30R; 7.7 gal; 10 hr gas / 5.5 hr propane at 50% load. Panasonic lists power supply 120 V / 60 Hz, microwave output 1,100 W, and microwave power consumption 1,500 W. The station has to supply the 1,500 W input, not the 1,100 W cooking output. A separate startup surge is not published. X-Boost and Power Lifting are not applied, because those modes are described for simple heating loads and a microwave is an electronic supply.
Safety first
- Run a generator outdoors only, at least 20 feet from the house, with the exhaust pointed away from doors, windows and vents. Never in a garage, basement, shed or crawlspace, even with the door open.
- Carbon monoxide is odorless and can kill in minutes. Keep battery CO alarms working inside the home.
- Never backfeed a house by plugging a generator into a wall outlet or dryer receptacle. It can energize utility lines and kill a lineworker or a neighbor.
- Connecting to home wiring requires a transfer switch or a listed breaker interlock with a power inlet box, installed by a licensed electrician and permitted where your jurisdiction requires it.
