Questions
Can the Westinghouse iGen2200 run ResMed AirSense 11, typical power from the user guide?
Runs. Running draw 56 W fits within 1,800 running watts, and published startup 73 W fits within 2,200 starting watts.
What watts were compared?
Generator: 1,800 running W and 2,200 starting W on gasoline. Appliance: 56 W running, 73 W startup.
How long will it run?
Fuel runtime depends on total load. Published runtime: Up to 12 hr at 25% load.
Where did the numbers come from?
Westinghouse product page: 2200 peak / 1800 running; 1.14 gal; up to 12 hr at 25%; 46.3 lb; duplex 5-20R and 2 USB. Older spec sheets list 10 hr at 25%. Americas user guide, 65 W power supply section: typical power consumption 56.1 W (111.5 VA) and peak power consumption 73.2 W (137.6 VA). This is the published system figure, not the lower no-humidifier row on ResMed's separate therapy-power sheet.
Safety first
- Run a generator outdoors only, at least 20 feet from the house, with the exhaust pointed away from doors, windows and vents. Never in a garage, basement, shed or crawlspace, even with the door open.
- Carbon monoxide is odorless and can kill in minutes. Keep battery CO alarms working inside the home.
- Never backfeed a house by plugging a generator into a wall outlet or dryer receptacle. It can energize utility lines and kill a lineworker or a neighbor.
- Connecting to home wiring requires a transfer switch or a listed breaker interlock with a power inlet box, installed by a licensed electrician and permitted where your jurisdiction requires it.
