Answer
Can the DuroMax XP12000EH run ResMed AirSense 11, typical power from the user guide?
Runs, surge risk
Runs. Running draw 56 W fits within 9,500 running watts, and published startup 73 W fits within 12,000 starting watts. This is an open-frame generator; for sensitive electronics or medical devices an inverter generator (under 3% THD) is the safer choice.

Questions
Can the DuroMax XP12000EH run ResMed AirSense 11, typical power from the user guide?
Runs. Running draw 56 W fits within 9,500 running watts, and published startup 73 W fits within 12,000 starting watts. This is an open-frame generator; for sensitive electronics or medical devices an inverter generator (under 3% THD) is the safer choice.
What watts were compared?
Generator: 9,500 running W and 12,000 starting W on gasoline. Appliance: 56 W running, 73 W startup.
How long will it run?
Fuel runtime depends on total load. Published runtime: 19 hr at 25% / 8 hr at 50% on gasoline; 14 hr / 7 hr on a 40-lb propane tank.
Where did the numbers come from?
DuroMax product page and spec sheet: gasoline 12000 / 9500; propane 11400 / 9025; 120/240V 30A twist-lock and 50A; 19/8 hr gas and 14/7 hr propane (40-lb) at 25%/50%. Americas user guide, 65 W power supply section: typical power consumption 56.1 W (111.5 VA) and peak power consumption 73.2 W (137.6 VA). This is the published system figure, not the lower no-humidifier row on ResMed's separate therapy-power sheet.
Safety first
- Run a generator outdoors only, at least 20 feet from the house, with the exhaust pointed away from doors, windows and vents. Never in a garage, basement, shed or crawlspace, even with the door open.
- Carbon monoxide is odorless and can kill in minutes. Keep battery CO alarms working inside the home.
- Never backfeed a house by plugging a generator into a wall outlet or dryer receptacle. It can energize utility lines and kill a lineworker or a neighbor.
- Connecting to home wiring requires a transfer switch or a listed breaker interlock with a power inlet box, installed by a licensed electrician and permitted where your jurisdiction requires it.
